Nani’s Journey: From Clap Director to Rising Star (2008–2011)

Nani, the versatile actor we know today, embarked on his cinematic journey with humble beginnings and a passion for the silver screen. As a student, he found himself captivated by the magic of movies, particularly under the influence of the legendary Mani Ratnam.

Initially aspiring to become a director, fate had other plans for Nani when producer Anil Kumar Koneru offered him the role of a “clap director” in the production of “Radha Gopalam” (2005), alongside the renowned director Bapu. This opportunity marked the commencement of his involvement in the film industry. Taking a brief sabbatical to work on a film script, Nani’s life took an unexpected turn when Bhargavi Mallela, a friend working as a Radio Jockey, offered him a position as an RJ. He accepted the offer and hosted a program called “Non-Stop Nani” for a year, demonstrating his versatility beyond the screen.

Nani’s breakthrough came when director Mohan Krishna Indraganti noticed him in an advertisement and cast him in “Ashta Chamma,” a film that received critical acclaim, with Nani’s performance earning well-deserved praise. This marked the beginning of his ascent in the film industry, laying the foundation for his remarkable career that was about to unfold.

Nani’s Journey to Stardom: A Rollercoaster Ride (2012–2022)

Nani, the versatile Telugu actor, has had a career full of ups and downs, but his determination and talent have made him one of the industry’s leading stars. Let’s take a whirlwind tour of his cinematic journey, from his early hits to his recent successes.

In 2011, Nani burst onto the Telugu film scene with “Ala Modalaindi,” a romantic comedy that marked the debut of the talented Nithya Menen. Critics lauded Nani’s natural performance, and the film became a blockbuster.

His foray into Tamil cinema with “Veppam” received mixed reviews, but Nani’s acting prowess earned praise. “Pilla Zamindar” showcased his ability to portray complex characters, and the film was a hit.

In 2012, Nani joined S. S. Rajamouli’s ambitious project, “Eega,” where he played a lover boy. The film was a blockbuster and even had Hindi and Malayalam versions.

Nani’s portrayal of Varun Krishna in “Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu” was a highlight, earning him critical acclaim. It was considered one of his best performances.

The years 2013 to 2015 saw commercial fluctuations for Nani. While “Paisa” received mixed reviews, his role as Shakti in “Aaha Kalyanam” was well-received, despite the film’s commercial failure. “Janda Pai Kapiraju” didn’t fare well either.

However, Nani’s career took a turn for the better in 2015 with “Yevade Subramanyam,” which garnered positive responses and was commercially successful.

Bhale Bhale Magadivoy” in 2015 was a breath of fresh air in the romantic comedy genre, becoming a blockbuster and one of the highest-grossing Telugu films in the United States.

In 2016, “Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha” and “Gentleman” showcased Nani’s versatility. “Majnu” received mixed reviews but was a hit.

From 2017 onwards, Nani’s star power continued to rise with hits like “Nenu Local,” “Ninnu Kori,” and “Middle Class Abbayi.”

Despite a setback with “Krishnarjuna Yudham,” Nani bounced back with “Jersey” in 2019, a feel-good hit at the box office.

His recent releases, “Shyam Singha Roy” and “Dasara,” have further solidified his position as a leading Telugu actor, with “Dasara” becoming his career’s highest-grossing film.
